The 28th Fertilizer Symposium have been held in Athens, Greece on November 3-4, 2020. Instead of going into hiding because of Corona, CIEC conducted its 28th Symposium on "Fertilization and Nutrient Use Efficiency in Mediterranean Environments" online. The symposium was organized by the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), here its Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Quality "Planterra" (Greece), CIEC, the Helenic Fertilizers Organization, the Institute of Crop and Soil Science at JKI in Braunschweig (Germany) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenyang (China) under the lead of CIEC′s Vice-President Prof. Dimitris Bouranis from AUA in Athens as the first event in CIEC′s history in form of a virtual conference in the internet. Scientists from 13 countries presented their research and discussed on fertilizer technology, nutrient management, soil quality and amelioration, soil fertility, plant microbe interaction and special aspects of sulfur nutrition and foliar fertilization.
